December weather to start the work week

CENTRAL TEXAS — Highs will climb into the mid 60s today under mostly sunny skies. A light frost is possible overnight in low, remote areas.

THE BREAKDOWN:

  • Cool December day on the way today
  • Clouds increase Tuesday evening
  • Chance of rain for the second half of the week.

Good morning! We see a typical thrill when you walk in the door this morning. With dry air in place, we may drop into the mid 60s this afternoon. This is roughly comparable to what we should see in early December. Expect another light frost to be possible overnight, but it will favor low and outlying areas.
Our next storm system is approaching for the second half of the week. We’ll see rain chances as early as Wednesday, although I think the best chances will be east of I-35. The models are still very much in disagreement, but as the core of the system arrives Friday and Saturday, I think this will bring our best local rain chances. Some models show good beneficial precipitation accumulations, but it is too early at the moment. As the models agree more, we will adjust our forecasts. Stay tuned!

Have a great Monday!
