Suffolk County Prosecutor Ray Tierney announced the results of the Retail Protection Partnership aimed at combating shoplifting and stopping repeat offenders.

The program allows retailers and law enforcement to work together to identify repeat shoplifters who often hit the same store multiple times – and impose higher fees in the process.

Retailers involved include Target, Home Depot and CVS.

The prosecutor says he has convicted half of the county’s top shoplifters and is prosecuting the other half.
