Sky Sports forced to remove Liverpool vs Man City content after Jamie Carragher complaint

Liverpool moved 11 points clear of Manchester City on Sunday afternoon after a 2-0 win at Anfield in the Premier League.

Sky Sports hastily removed a clip discussing Liverpool’s victory over Manchester City following a complaint by Jamie Carragher because his comments were “twisted”. After the Reds’ victory, sealed by goals either side of half-time from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, the former Liverpool central defender claimed City would have a fight on their hands to finish in the top four.

“This season, Manchester City will not win Premier League“, he said on Super Sunday. “I don’t think there’s any going back.

“It’s almost a mini-crisis for Manchester City, and I think it’s reminiscent of Liverpool two years ago. In fact, I think Man City could have a battle on their hands to make the top four.”

However, a clip from Monday’s Football Show saw presenter Rob Wotton introduce Carragher’s comments to guests Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith. During the segment, the host appeared to claim that the Liverpool legend believed City would not finish in the top four.

An enraged Carragher was however unimpressed and called the broadcasting company on Twitter. In response to the now-deleted post, he wrote: “I said I wanted to Arsenal And Chelsea to finish above City!

“They might have a fight for fourth place, but I’m confident they’ll get there. It’s not like the announcer is twisting what I said!!!”

Subsequently, Sky Sports was quick to remove the post in order to avoid any further backlash from Carragher or his supporters. Despite the brief fallout, Carragher is expected to be on Sky Sports this weekend when the Premier League returns following a run of midweek matches on Amazon Prime.
