Adani Foundation releases ‘Shavlamban’, an empowerment journey for divyang people in Kutch

Adani Foundation and Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Gujarat have joined hands to empower the lives of people with disabilities (divyang) on ​​the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Adani Foundation will distribute over 1,152 technical kits to Divyang students of all Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state, Adani Foundation said in a statement.

The foundation also released ‘Swavlamban’, a collection highlighting its journey of empowering divyang people across the Kutch region.

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, commemorated on December 3, Adani Foundation and the Government of Gujarat expressed their commitment to further expand their partnership at an event organized at the Gujarat National Law University in Gandhinagar.

The chief guest was Bhanuben Babariya, Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Gujarat; the guests of honor were Bhikhusinh Parmar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment of Gujarat and Mohammad Shahid, Principal Secretary of Social Justice and Empowerment; the distinguished guests were Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Group and VS Gadhavi, Executive Director, Adani Foundation, and the special guest was Diva Shah.

“Today, I stand here not only as the leader of the Adani Group, but also as someone overwhelmed by the incredible courage and inspiration of all of you, Divyang brothers and sisters. Seeing your power makes me understand the true meaning of life,” says Jeet Adani.

I am proud that over the last 10 years, the Adani Foundation has played an instrumental role in improving the quality of life of divyang people through skills development programs, livelihood opportunities, education as well as tools and supports to make daily life easier. We are and will always work to bring positive change in. there life of divyang people, especially in Mundra, Khawda and Lakhpat talukas of Kutch, he said.

The Adani Foundation, as part of its Swavlamban intervention, which strives to improve the lives of the divyang people, and the Gujarat government have taken remarkable steps to empower the divyang people, especially in the Kutch region, said the Adani Foundation in the statement.

Through the Swavlamban Project, people in Divyang are provided with the tools, resources and opportunities to live dignified and fulfilling lives. Since the project began in 2014, significant progress has been made in improving the quality of life of people in Divyang, the Adani Foundation said.

The expansion of the collaboration will benefit 7,055 divyang people with job training, educational support, internships, entrepreneurship opportunities, essential equipment and necessary assistance.

One of the most significant achievements of the Swavlamban project took place last year in the form of the Divyang Job Fair 2023. The job fair, which was held at the Adani Field office in Mundra, saw over 250 participants and 22 companies conducting interviews. As a result, 111 candidates obtained employment and five candidates received equipment assistance to become self-employed.

To date, the Swavalamban project has supported more than 2,000 divyang people.

Since 1996, the Adani Foundation – the social welfare and development arm of the Adani Group – has remained agile and deeply committed to making strategic social investments for sustainable results across India.
