Bangladesh has a clear roadmap to implement International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions as the country fully admires it, Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin said today (December 3).

He made the remarks when European Union Ambassador and Head of Delegation Michael Miller paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Dhaka.

Bashir Uddin said that issues such as bilateral trade, increasing mutual cooperation, implementation of ILO convention and return of laundered money were discussed in the meeting.

The advisor said that Bangladesh has a huge population, mainly young people, and the government wants economic empowerment by utilizing them after making them skilled human resources.

On the rise in prices of raw materials, the advisor said they had imposed taxes on imports in order to stabilize the local market.

The European Union ambassador said the free trade contract between the two countries would play a vital role in accelerating trade.

Direct investments from Europe to Bangladesh will increase if the investment climate develops, he added.

Michael Miller expressed his desire to help Bangladesh return money laundered and stolen by logistics and experts.
