HURRICANE SEASON RECAP

This year’s hurricane season has been active, but not as busy as forecasters had initially predicted. This is largely due to a “lull” in storm development from August 13 to September 8 – the longest since 1968.

However, it was still a remarkable season with 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and 5 major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher). Many of which developed in the second half of the season. Five storms made landfall in the United States.
