Hard frost overnight, showers likely Wednesday evening

BIRMINGHAM, AlabamaWBRC) – THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Expect severe frost overnight, with temperatures as low as 21º in some areas. Make sure the pipes are protected. Temperatures will rebound into the low 50s on Wednesday, with increasing clouds during the afternoon. We will experience a period of light showers late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Temperatures will be above freezing Wednesday evening, so no frozen precipitation is expected. That said, plan for a very cold rain event.

THE NEXT BIG THING will be another big drop in temperatures Thursday evening. Once again, lows will fall into the 20s, with highs only in the 40s on Friday. The weather will be dry for most of the day Thursday and continues into Friday and Saturday.

The WEEKEND forecast will feature other significant changes as another storm system impacts the state. We’ll start below freezing Saturday morning, then temperatures will rise into the 50s. Clouds will increase by Sunday, with a chance of showers returning. Rain coverage will gradually increase Sunday evening and continue throughout the day Monday. No severe weather is expected but plan for a soggy/rainy pattern for early next week. We were able to observe a nice break in the rain Monday evening and Tuesday; However, new data suggests another big spell of rain is possible starting Wednesday next week.
