Why are Paul George and Joel Embiid out for the Philadelphia 76ers tonight against Orlando Magic

It’s been a start to the season to forget for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. They have been dealing with a long list of injuries since the start of the season, and tonight they will once again be without their two biggest stars.

The Sixers without stars for the Magic meeting

Joel Embiid and Paul George were out for tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic. Embiid has been out since mid-November, but George is coming off his best game as a Sixer on Tuesday night.

Embiid, who got into trouble before the season even started after declaring he wouldn’t play in back-to-back games, has been out with a left knee injury since Nov. 20. He is getting closer to a return, but certain personal problems will delay his return for at least one more night.

George suffered from injuries before the start of the season during his first year in Philadelphia. He hyperextended his left knee in the preseason, which forced him to miss the first two weeks of the season. He returned in the same game Joel Embiid was injured against the Memphis Grizzlies on November 20.

Philly in the basement of the Eastern Conference

George returned to action on Saturday and had his best game of the year against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night, scoring 29 points and dishing out 8 assists. He played a season-high 37 minutes in that game and he’ll have an off night as the Sixers try to get their All-Star score back to full form.

Embiid should be back on the court soon, and the Sixers are hoping he can recapture some of the magic he produced in the 2022/23 season when he was named NBA MVP. This season, he has only played four games this season and is averaging 19.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

With George and Embiid out for tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic, the 14th-ranked Sixers will be without a combined 35.7 points, 12.8 rebounds and 8.6 assists as they take on the Orlando Magic, third. Luckily for Phllly, Tyrese Maxey is back to his best after suffering a hamstring injury last month.
