But his actions eventually came back to him, with Jade’s kidnapping. April Windsor (Amélie Flanagan) to teach Ross a lesson, by hanging the teenager at the multi-storey car park where her mother Donna (Verity Rushworth) died ten years ago.

After learning that April was in danger, Mack and his partner Aaron (Danny Miller) took action, handing over the remaining funds to Jade, who eventually let April go.

Ross was furious when he realized that it was Mack who was in possession of the stolen money and so, when April was out of danger, he headed to Jacob’s Fold to confront his nemesis.

In typical Ross fashion, the returnee resorted to violence, brutally punching Mack, who struggled to stay standing as Ross repeatedly punched him.

Charity rushed to her husband’s side, ordering Ross to stop his unwarranted attack, but Ross refused to listen and instead pushed Charity to the ground next to Mack.

In violent scenes, Ross went to attack Mack once again, but was caught doing so by Moses, who was terrified of his own father.

Will this finally be the wake-up call Ross needs to take things to the next level? Will he manage to repair his actions? Or has he just gone too far this time?

Charity certainly thinks so, with the Woolpack owner telling her ex that he’ll never see her son again after this.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 or streams from 7am on ITVX.
