F1 Academy will expand to an 18-car grid from 2025

A physical representation of the growth of the F1 Academy since its inaugural season in 2023, the all-female series will now provide even more opportunities for young drivers to showcase their talents on the global motorsport stage.

Hitech is a big name in the junior formula system. She currently also competes in Formula 2, Formula 3, GB3 and British Formula 4. Its addition to the F1 Academy grid therefore represents another direct route for drivers to climb the ranks.

The team will line up alongside existing series members Prema, ART, Rodin, MP Motorsport and Campos, fielding two full-time drivers alongside the series’ wildcard entry, previously run by Prema, who will appear at each round of the 2025 F1 Academy season. .

Oliver Oakes, owner of Hitech Grand Prix, said: “I am delighted to confirm Hitech’s participation in the F1 Academy from the 2025 season.

“We have always fundamentally believed in a platform that inspires and supports young girls and women to embark on their motorsport journey and the opportunity to translate their support into positive action by joining a team in F1 Academy is really important to us.”

Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 Academy, added: “We are proud to expand the F1 Academy grid to 18 cars in only our third racing season.

“It is clear to us that change is already happening, and this expansion reflects not only the growing pool of drivers ready to take the plunge, but also the incredible growth of the F1 Academy as a platform to develop female talent .

“Hitech Grand Prix has an impressive history in junior formula, including FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 and we are pleased to welcome them to our grid from 2025.”
