Mourinho launches brutal response to FFP ‘pursuits’ against Guardiola; brags after winning “cleanly”

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has issued a brutal response to Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola, boasting about winning trophies ‘cleanly’.

Man City returned to winning ways on Wednesday evening with a 3-0 victory at the Etihad against Nottingham Forest.

This result ended their mini-crisis as GuardiolaThe team has failed to win in seven matches in all competitions. The last match of this poor series took place against Liverpool at Anfield, dominated by a 2-0 defeat.

Towards the end of that match, Guardiola was jeered by Liverpool fans, who chanted: “You will be sacked tomorrow morning.”

In response, a smiling Guardiola held up six fingers in reference to the number of Premier League titles he has won. Mourinho produced something similar towards the end of his time at Man Utd in 2018.

After the Liverpool match, Guardiola was asked if history could repeat itself and this moment could lead to him leaving Man City soon. He then pointed out that he has won more Premier League titles than Mourinho.

Guardiola said: “I hope not in my case… He won three, I won six. But we are the same like that.

“We are in these situations together. Letting our fans know that we are much, much better than the people singing that (Liverpool fans chanting sacked in the morning).”

“It (this gesture) was just to make our fans feel that what we did was extraordinary. I want to prove that we are an incredible football club. Sooner or later, it will be the end but I will try to extend as much as possible for the best of my club.

Mourinho responded to Guardiola, boasting that he had won “fairly and cleanly”. This refers to the fact that Man City faces more than 100 charges for alleged violations of Financial Fair Play rules.

He said: “Guardiola said something to me yesterday. He won six trophies and I won three, but I won fair and clean.

“If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win by handling 150 cases.

After beating Forest, Guardiola insisted Man City – who are nine points behind leaders Liverpool – “you have to fight” and “accept it as a challenge”.

“They want it – I know they want it every day – I have no doubt, but we are not getting results, and we have to get results, and that is the reality,” he said. Guardiola said.

“They won’t come and tell me: “I don’t believe anymore; I don’t believe what we did. This is not happening and it will not happen.

“I want to help them find a way to be consistent and win games – that’s what we need to do and what’s going to happen, is going to happen.” Otherwise I wouldn’t decide or I would be with the players even longer.

“I had in mind my destiny which I wanted to extend because I believe I want to continue doing it. But of course, results (are essential) – every manager who is in this situation knows this and for me it is the first time in my career, but what can I do?

“I have to accept it as a challenge, to prove to myself that we can help them. The players know it. I want to be here. If they want me, fine. We must fight.
