Man appears at Old Bailey following incident on bus in Brixton

A man has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with attempted murder following an incident on a bus in Brixton and the victim’s subsequent death.

The Met’s Special Crime Command has launched an investigation following an incident involving two men on a route 59 bus in Brixton Road, SW9, at around 10.20am on Thursday 21 November.

One of the men, aged 40, was taken to hospital following the incident but sadly died from his injuries shortly after 2.30pm on Wednesday 25 November.

He was named Donovan Martin.

His family is supported by specialist officers.

Nathan Grant, 39 (27.07.85), of Lambeth Walk, Brixton, was initially charged on Friday November 22 with attempted murder as well as theft.

He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, November 23, and was remanded in custody, appearing at the Old Bailey today, Friday, December 6.

The charges will be amended to murder at a later hearing, date to be confirmed.
