The Brooklyn Entertainer Casanova sheds his raw exterior to reveal the revelations he’s made as a man in his new album, I understand now. The twelve-track album takes listeners through an audio tabernacle that reveals Casanova’s shadow work to become the better man he is today.

Alongside the album, Casanova unveils the new visual for its first single, “Forgive me, Father. » The single covers the Brooklyn emcee’s self-awareness and highlights some causes from his past songs. The video begins with the past Casanova from 2006 preparing to commit robberies and the current Casanova in costume entering a church tabernacle.

Throughout Nimi Hendrix-video made, there are scenes of the 2006 Casanova with his wife, his child and Casanova’s mother happy with each other. But as the video progresses, the 2006 Casanova is seen hiding the money he got from robbing people and a gun in his bed. Next, the video shows Casanova regretting some upcoming flights, with disdain on his mother’s face and concern from those close to him.

The visual ends with the past Casanova, dressed in all-black flight clothing with a backpack full of items he stole, meeting the present-day costumed Casanova at the church before the past Casanova enter the tabernacle. His final moments show a news clip of his actual arrest and the mug shot. When the screen fades to black, the words: “People who have nothing will help you lose everything.” I hope this doesn’t overwhelm you. In the album’s lead single, “Forgive Me Father,” Casanova reflects on his sins while exposing what drove him to sin. He raps to listeners about losing everything and having to win it all back. The chorus, “So fuck the family and fuck the friends”, reflects how the difficult history with his parents and friends affected his ability to give love throughout the song. He asks God, “Who let the Devil in?” to become aware of what affects their decision-making.

I understand now explores other topics such as lust in the track “Please”, luxury and wealth in the upbeat club song “Miami” featuring Kevin Rossand facing the resentment he received from the world in “Hate Me”. The opening lyrics of “Hate Me” appear on the cover letter. Regardless of the resentment and nightmares he has experienced, Casanova finds a way to keep his head above water and provide for his family. I understand now contains additional features of YXNG KA, Joey Bada$$And KayCyy.
