Mexican boxer-puncher Rafael Espinoza seeks to prove that his victory over Robeisy Ramirez Last year, it was no coincidence when the two met in a rematch at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on December 7th. The 12-round fight will serve as the co-main event for Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez 2 and will be broadcast by ESPN+.

Espinoza (25-0, 21 KO) upset Ramirez in December 2023 to win the WBO featherweight title. The 6-1 Guadalajara product survived a fifth-round knockdown to take command, flooring the Cuban star in the final seconds before winning by majority decision.

“I always wanted a rematch. because (the first fight) was a war where we both gave everything,” Espinoza said during the final press conference. “He deserved it, I deserved it and the people deserved it.

“We all know my height advantage (seven inches), but I also have another advantage and that is my heart. So I’m going to show my heart by giving it my all in the ring this Saturday.

Ramirez (14-2, 9 KOs) was a two-time Olympic gold medalist who turned professional with great success in 2019. Undeniably talented, his main issue has been consistency. The 30-year-old southpaw lost his professional debut to the little-known Adan Gonzalez and his loss to Espinoza was a shock.

“There is no point in mentioning things from the past now because it sounds like excuses, and I will never give excuses in this sport,” Ramirez said. “Simply put, I think I learned how you have to fight when you’re not at 100 percent, physically and mentally.
