A man has been arrested by authorities in Okaikwei South Constituency, Greater Accra Region. The arrest took place during the ongoing 2024 general elections, more precisely at the Sainte-Thérèse school polling station.

The man, identified as Michael Allotey, was reportedly in possession of a weapon. The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest and said Allotey was currently assisting with the investigation.

The incident raised concerns about the safety and security of voters during the elections. The presence of a weapon in a polling station constitutes a serious violation of electoral regulations and could potentially disrupt the voting process.

The Ghana Police Force has assured the public that it is taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of all voters during the elections. Authorities also urge citizens to immediately report any suspicious activities or incidents to the police.

The arrest of Michael Allotey serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining peace and order during the electoral process. Authorities will likely take a tough stance against anyone engaging in violent or disruptive behavior.

As the 2024 general elections continue, it is essential that all stakeholders, including voters, candidates and security personnel, work together to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
