Pantoja won the 125-pound title with a split decision victory over Brandon Moreno. Since that victory, Pantoja has defended his title twice, defeating Brandon Royval in December and Steve Erceg in May. Both fights ended in decision victories.

This reign ended with his first defense with a loss by KO against Kyoji Horiguchi. Following that loss, Asakura went 4-1 before regaining the vacant 135-pound belt in December 2023 with a TKO over Juan Archuleta. Asakura has not fought since this victory.
