Man fatally shot after fight in Akron, police say

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Akron police found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside an apartment early Saturday morning.

According to an Akron Police release, officers responded to a shooting around 3:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Carpenter St.

When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man outside with multiple gunshot wounds and, according to the release, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to the police’s preliminary investigation, an argument between two men continued from inside the apartment to the outside.

The two men began to fight and the older man shot the 36-year-old, police said.

Akron police arrested a 49-year-old man at the scene and took him to the police station for questioning, according to the release.

Police later released the man without charges while detectives continued their investigation, according to the release.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending further investigation.
