Arsenal score again from a corner but are held 1-1 by Fulham to drop points in the Premier League title race

Arsenal could only muster another goal from a corner in a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday as Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing side dropped two points in their bid to overcome Premier League leaders Liverpool.

William Saliba – one of two scorers from a corner in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday – repeated the feat in the 52nd minute against Fulham to earn his side a point at Craven Cottage. Raul Jimenez gave Fulham the lead in the 11th minute.

This helped Arsenal narrow the gap on Liverpool to six points, but it will be seen as a wasted opportunity with the leaders inactive this round after the defeat. Merseyside derby against Everton postponed Saturday due to stormy weather.

Chelsea have the chance to move four points behind Liverpool if they can beat Tottenham in another London derby later on Sunday.

Bukayo Saka saw what appeared to be a winning goal for Arsenal ruled out for offside against Gabriel Martinelli in the 88th.

There were, however, late goals in the other first two matches.

Jamie Vardy scored in the 86th and added another goal in the first minute of injury time as Leicester staged a late recovery to draw 2-2 at home to Brighton in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s second game in charge. He won his first, against West Ham, 3-1 Tuesday.

Bournemouth scored in the 87th minute and then in the fifth minute of added time through Dango Ouattara to win 2-1 at Ipswich, who remained in the relegation zone with just one victory this season.
