College Football Playoff Selection Show: Live updates for brackets and rankings

Penn State is the No. 6 seed in the CFP

No. 6 Penn State will face No. 11 SMU for the third time in program history, and first since 1978.

Both of these teams enter the College Football Playoff with 11-1 regular season records and conference championship game losses on their resumes.

SMU, in its first season in the ACC, advanced to the conference championship game after finishing the regular season with an undefeated conference record.

Penn State gets the coveted first-round home game thanks to quarterback Drew Allar and dynamic tight end Tyler Warren. Penn State scored 37 points against No. 1 Oregon in the Big Ten title game.
