DAVV Implements Expert Review for Courses with Low Pass Rates to Ensure Assessment Fairness |

DAVV will re-examine results with low pass percentage before declaration

India: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has introduced a new approach to address persistently low results in 14 courses, including B.Ed, MBA and Law. The university anticipates that the results of these programs, which fall to 35% or less, will be reviewed by experts before the results are announced. The answer sheets will be sent to experts for review before the results are declared.
Additionally, the answer sheets of students with ATKT (Allowed to Retain Terms) with a narrow margin of 2-4 marks in one or two subjects will also be re-checked before the results are announced. Experts will assess whether questions were partially verified, whether errors occurred in the total, or whether the assessments were incomplete. This initiative aims to ensure fairness, accuracy and transparency in the evaluation process.
DAVV Controller of Examinations Dr Ashesh Tiwari said, “Whenever the pass percentage of a course falls to 35% or less, experts will re-evaluate the selected answer sheets. This includes checking for incomplete assessments, calculation errors, or unverified answers. Any necessary corrections will be incorporated into the final results before reporting.”
Once the reviews are completed, all necessary changes will be implemented and the revised results will be finalized after validation by experts. The university has identified 14 courses, including B.Ed, MBA, LLB, BA LLB, BHMS, BSc Home Science and several MA and BBA specializations, which have repeatedly performed poorly in the last two years. These programs will be subject to scrutiny.
In previous cases, the university observed an 11-13% improvement in results after assessments, indicating that errors such as incomplete assessments and calculation errors were effectively corrected. This approach also aims to avoid controversies often triggered by poor results and to restore student confidence in the assessment system.
Tiwari added that the reviewers have been instructed to strictly adhere to the guidelines, but the additional review stage is aimed at preventing controversies. “Rechecking results at university level will ensure fairness and transparency, eliminating errors before final declarations,” he said.
