Kyran, who would be eight years old if he were still alive, was reported missing from his home in Co Louth last August, but Gardaí suspect he was murdered more than two years ago.

They established that he was out of school at the end of May 2022, but he is listed on the school rolls as being present until the last day of the June term.

Detectives attempt to corroborate his presence at the school through eyewitness accounts.

The internal report into Kyran’s education was one of two Tusla reports submitted to the government last month, amid public concern that the disappearance of a child may have gone unnoticed by authorities for two years.

The report into Kyran’s education reviewed all information held by education support services regarding his education, and copies were provided to Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman and the Education Minister Norma Foley.

In an interview last month, Tusla’s chief executive said the children and families agency had not received any references from the school regarding Kyran’s attendance or education between 2022 and 2024.

Kate Duggan told RTÉ: “What we know is that Kyran was at school in May 2022, and what we know is that we have not received any concerns since then,” she said. she declared.

Kyran lived with his mother, Dayla Durnin, and two younger siblings in Dundalk in 2022.

A search of Kyran’s former family home in Dundalk and adjacent grounds was carried out over several days in October.

Gardaí are consolidating the huge volume of information from the public which has flooded in since a murder investigation was launched.

“All information is being evaluated. Everything people send is reviewed and evaluated, clarified, proven or disproved,” the source said.

The Department for Education said it could not comment on individual cases and “in particular, we are aware that a Garda investigation is ongoing into this sensitive matter”.
