Ready medical team and makeshift hospital to extend help during literary event

On the occasion of the 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in Mandya on December 20, a health team comprising doctors, nurses and others was constituted to assist the sammelana participants in case of health emergencies and their provide care.

The team will extend health services to participants, including dignitaries, delegates, literature enthusiasts and others, if necessary, and will take precautionary measures during the three days of the sammelana to ensure that medical assistance is available for the needy.

A large number of literature enthusiasts are expected to participate in the sammelana in Mandya, which is hosting the mega literary event after a 30-year hiatus.

The team will work 24 hours a day, over three days, in addition to a health office and a temporary health center has been created. The makeshift hospital will have 10 beds in addition to a laboratory and a pharmacy. ECG and oxygen concentrator are among the facilities available in the temporary intensive care unit and an ambulance will be deployed at the hospital for round-the-clock service.

OPD registration and OPD slips for patients with sahitya sammelana logo will be issued to the needy. Four wheelchairs will also be provided.

Besides, a 20-bed ward has also been established at Mandya District Hospital in view of sammelana to treat the needy. Beds will be reserved for sammelana participants.

DHO Mohan said that clinics for women and children will be set up next to the sammelana stage.
