Study to Examine Future Use of Former Clinton Community College Campus

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – As Clinton Community College prepares to move, a new study will examine what should happen to the college’s old campus.

The school will move to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus next fall and the county is now exploring a new use for the space.

Molly Ryan, Clinton County economic development director, said she hired engineering firm CDL to work on a feasibility study.

There will also likely be public forums during the study to see what residents would like to see on the former college grounds.

“This is a very large parcel that has the capacity to become something very important to this community, whatever it may be.” And I don’t know yet what that looks like, but the county certainly wants to make sure that this is in the best interest of Clinton County residents and generate tax revenue that will benefit everyone’s bottom line,” Ryan said.

The study is expected to last approximately six months.
