Germany: DAZN expands its portfolio of live events channels with LTN

Sports streaming service DAZN and LTN have expanded their partnership to bring a wider range of live coverage of some of the biggest international football competitions to betting audiences and retail partner platforms across Germany. Leveraging a suite of automated linear channel creation and delivery technologies from LTN, DAZN now offers a portfolio of 11 variants of low-latency live streaming channels to approximately 1,000 betting sites and its distribution partner platform, Prime Video.

Its multi-year partnership with LTN, a specialist in transformative media technologies and video transport solutions, has enabled DAZN to create and manage unique versions of its core linear channels to support high-competition, broadcast game days with low latency via LTN’s fully managed global IP multicast network. Starting this fall, DAZN is offering an additional pop-up linear channel to deliver up to eight simultaneous matches to distribution partners, including a range of matches from Europe’s biggest football leagues.

“We serve sports fans wherever they are by providing unique and engaging live experiences. In-play betting involves incredibly demanding streaming requirements: fans enjoying the game from their local betting shops need to know that their stream is as close to real-time as possible,” said Bernd Brunner, Head of Linear Channel at DAZN. “LTN enables low latency from ingestion to broadcast and distribution – and they understand how to provide simple, scalable and reliable services that our team can operate from anywhere. We view LTN as a growth partner that helps us increase value and reach more audiences with exceptional sports content.

DAZN uses LTN’s hosted broadcast solution, LTN Lift/LTN Schedule, to automate the creation and broadcast of new digital linear channels, delivering them at low latency to distribution platform provider iGameMedia, delivering ultra latency streams -low at betting sites in the region, including Tipico and Bet3000. At the same time, LTN allows DAZN to manage residential and commercial rights agreements and blackout requirements while providing a number of simultaneous live streams to Prime Video viewers.

“DAZN is spearheading innovative linear channel creation and distribution strategies to engage new audiences with fan-focused streaming experiences on any platform,” said Chris Myers, executive vice president and Chief Revenue Officer of LTN. “Our unique partnership helps DAZN grow its business profitably with an ultra-flexible, easy-to-use system that delivers the largest live events to rapidly growing audiences with low-latency transmission. We are proud to support DAZN’s journey as it expands into new markets and attracts a global audience.

Backed by LTN’s proprietary managed IP network, DAZN achieves critical latency targets required for live betting while reducing operational complexity through intelligent acquisition, routing and distribution capabilities. LTN’s patented dynamic carrier routing and rapid error recovery protocols overcome the complexities of IP-based delivery to enable ultra-reliable, low-latency transmission of transport streams. At the same time, the acquisition, versioning and distribution of interconnected signals allows the sports streamer to receive feeds produced by partner broadcasters and tailor distribution to multiple downstream partner platforms. DAZN’s partnership with LTN builds on a scalable IP-led technology foundation to fuel future growth in new European markets and specialist audience groups.
