Dr. Morepen Enters Wellness Segment With Weight Management Initiative

Dr. Morepen made a foray into the growing wellness segment on Tuesday with the launch of a weight management initiative.

The company, a 100% subsidiary of Laboratoires Morepen, seeks to establish itself in a segment currently valued around 12,000 crore and with an annual growth of 16 percent.

The company launched its wellness product – LightLife – designed to tackle the growing obesity crisis in India.

The obesity rate in India is increasing and this segment is expected to reach 52.3 billion by 2032, “reflecting the urgency to address weight management with solutions that are both safe and effective”, a said Dr Morepen CEO Varun Suri.

With LightLife, the company seeks to solve the problem of obesity without crash diets or harmful fads, he said.

According to the Global Obesity Atlas 2024, more than 25% of Indian adults are expected to face obesity by 2035.

Suri said the company’s initiative aims to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle through innovations such as Slimbiome and Intelicaps, providing individuals with a scientifically validated solution.

He noted that the company is also looking at revenue of around 30 crores from the program in the first year.

Dr Morepen currently generates a turnover of approximately 200 crore from the OTC products segment.

Dr Morepen said LightLife takes a science-based approach to weight loss, leveraging globally sourced prebiotics from the UK, probiotics from Belgium and dietary fiber.

These ingredients aim to improve gut health, reduce cravings and promote satiety, addressing weight management beyond traditional methods of counting calories or restrictive diets.

The product is backed by a comprehensive wellness program that includes personalized nutrition plans, bodybuilding tips, and a dedicated health app to track progress.
