Cambodia will host the annual Cambodia Trade Expo (CTE) this weekend, showcasing a range of high-potential products and providing opportunities for business owners and businesses to connect with international buyers.

The four-day event, from December 13 to 16, will be held at the PH Grand Hall in the Chbar Ampov district of Phnom Penh. Under this year’s theme, “Trade Renaissance”, it will feature 246 stands where local and international companies will showcase their products. The Ministry of Commerce expects around 50,000 visitors, including representatives of global buyers.

At a press conference on December 9, ministry spokesperson Pen Sovicheat described the exhibition as a platform to strengthen the country’s business activities and improve the investment climate.

He highlighted that this provides an excellent networking opportunity between local exhibitors and national and international visitors.

The event will showcase a variety of the country’s high-quality export products, focusing on 10 key products.

“We have products like paddy, rice, cashew nuts, pepper, mangoes, Ambong yellow bananas, cassava, Pailin longans, honey, salt and coconuts. Some of them are geographical indication (GI) products, while others are high potential products that are increasingly attractive in today’s market,” said Sovicheat.

He added that the ministry aims to promote both GI-labeled products and those “made in Cambodia” to enhance their appeal both domestically and internationally.

Organized annually by the ministry, the event was previously known as the “Cambodian Products and Import-Export Goods Exhibition” and has been held 16 times since 2006. The renaming of the exhibition to CTE reflects a modern and simplified approach, focused on excellence. , quality and innovation in the country’s growing market.

Te Taing Por, president of the Federation of Associations of Small and Medium Enterprises of Cambodia (FASMEC), told the Post on December 10 that the fair would bring significant benefits to local producers. He said it provides domestic businesses and businesses a platform to showcase their products and services, raises awareness of Cambodian products and builds confidence among business owners.

He added that FASMEC members will display a range of products, including cashew nuts, dried fish and beef, and canned fruits.

“FASMEC fully supports initiatives focused on promoting Cambodian products. These programs are expected to continue every year to contribute to economic growth and improve access to international markets,” Taing Por said.

He also noted that the country’s exports are growing steadily every year, thanks to the increased recognition of the quality of Cambodian products in international markets and the successful negotiation of several bilateral and multilateral trade agreements.
