Voices of Ross County fans: ‘A tough fortnight behind us as Cowie turns his attention to a huge game against Hibs’

Ross County fans were hoping their side would take inspiration from their last game against Rangers at Dingwall and claim another famous victory.

A 3-2 victory in April marked the first time the Staggies had won against the Rangers at the 26th time. So, could they secure back-to-back wins at Dingwall against Govan’s side?

Unfortunately, lightning didn’t strike twice.

At least County’s performance in the 3-0 defeat was a vast improvement on that at Celtic Park the previous weekend.

The front pairing of Ronan Hale and Alex Samuel caused Rangers’ backline problems with their pace and movement, while Noah Chilvers and Akil Wright were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet thanks to the saves from Jack Butland.

Similar to the game against Celtic, County had shown a positive reaction after conceding early on and settled into the game. However, once Danilo took advantage of Jack Hamilton’s error to make it 2-0, the Staggies had a mountain to climb.

Don Cowie’s side didn’t let the game get away from them in the same way as the previous week and competed well in the second half. Hamilton made some good saves which will hopefully help him regain his confidence.

County fans know their season won’t be defined by games against Celtic or Rangers. The last two games have been difficult, but Cowie will want his side to put those defeats behind them and focus on a huge game this weekend against Hibs at Easter Road.
