Dutch police arrest three people possibly linked to huge apartment explosion that killed six in The Hague

THE HAGUE – Dutch police said Tuesday they had arrested three suspects who may have been involved in the explosion and fire that killed six people in an apartment building in The Hague over the weekend.

Authorities had said they were investigating “all possibilities” that could have caused the disaster, and the arrests indicate there may be criminal intent.

“Further arrests are not excluded,” The Hague police said in a statement.

He gave no details on the reasons for the arrests and said the three men were considered “possibly involved in the explosion.” Police also seized several vehicles, but said it was unclear whether among them was the one seen speeding away from the site shortly after the explosion.

On Saturday morning, residents of the Mariahoeve district, northeast of The Hague, heard the explosion and screams before dawn, and authorities were still working at the scene of the collapsed houses on Tuesday.
