Auburn football to welcome former Jax State DB Zechariah Poyser

Auburn football will look to improve its 5-7 record by adding experienced players to its secondary. Could a defensive back from a national program help Hugh Freeze and his program achieve that goal?

Former Jax State defensive back Zacharie Poyser shared on social media this week that he scheduled visits to three SEC programsincluding Auburn.

Poyser was part of a three-headed monster at safety for the Gamecocks this season. Him, in addition to the other securities Fred Perry And Antonio Carterrecorded 269 tackles, 13 pass deflections and four interceptions. Individually, Poyser made 75 saves with eight assists and three steals.

Poyser would be a great addition to a safety unit without Jerrin Thompson (grad) and Colby Wooden (transfer portal). Several players, including Sylvester Smith, Kaleb HarrisAnd Kensley Louidor-Faustinreturn to the unit. Added Poyser, a safety that produced a 47.8% catch percentage last season, will increase Auburn’s chances of slowing down the opponent’s passing numbers next season.
