Badgers football wide receiver Markus Allen enters transfer portal

Former Wisconsin and Eastern Michigan wide receiver Markus Allen re-entered the transfer portal Tuesday.

He does so with one final year of eligibility remaining. He looks to capitalize on his career-best 2024 campaign at Eastern Michigan, in which he recorded 43 catches, 651 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

“I appreciate Coach (Grant) Heard and Coach (Chris) Creighton for the opportunity to pursue my dreams,” Allen wrote on I’m betting on myself for my final year of college eligibility by entering my name into the transfer portal.

Allen’s college career has been a roller coaster ride thus far. He initially joined Wisconsin as a three-star recruit in the 2021 class, after first committing and decommitting. Michigan. He played for the Badgers for the 2021 season and part of 2022, totaling just 10 receptions, 156 yards and one receiving touchdown.

The veteran receiver first entered the transfer portal in October 2022 after Wisconsin fired head coach Paul Chryst. He quickly committed to contending with Minnesota, but quickly decommitted and joined the Badgers program when Luke Fickell took over.

He then returned to the portal in June 2023 after an arrest in Aprilplayed the 2023 season at Butler Community College, then eventually moved to Eastern Michigan for the 2024 campaign.

The former Badger had the best season of his college career with the Eagles. His 651 receiving yards were second on the team, just nine yards behind Terry Lockett Jr. (660).

Allen is one of several members of Wisconsin’s 2022 front office who is enjoying success. Vinny Anthony had an exceptional season with the Badgers, Chimere Dike well done For FloridaSkyler Bell had a big year at UConn and Keontez Lewis even broke some records in southern Illinois.
