Cong leaders discuss candidates for Delhi elections, may release list of 21 candidates on Thursday – ThePrint –

New Delhi, Dec 12 (PTI) Top Congress leaders on Thursday cleared the names of 21 candidates in the Delhi assembly elections expected to be held early next year.

At a meeting of the party’s central election committee chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, top Delhi leaders and CEC members discussed the names of candidates and gave the nod to 21 candidates.

Former Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, CEC members Ambika Soni, Salman Khurshid, TS Singh Deo and Mushusudan Mistry were among those present at the meeting. Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav was also present during the proceedings.

Qazi Nizamuddin, in-charge of party affairs in Delhi, said, “In the last 10 years, Delhi has suffered a lot. The Center and the Delhi government blame each other for the poor living conditions here.

“People have suffered the consequences and are now determined to teach these two governments a lesson,” he said.

Delhi Congress leader Yadav said he will surely contest the Delhi Assembly elections.

“I’m not someone who’s going to run away. Along with me, many of our senior leaders are on the list. We will publish the list of 21 candidates today in a few hours. Soon we will also release the second list,” he said.

“All categories have been taken into account in our list. You will also have the opportunity to see new and young faces. I am happy that our leaders had discussions with everyone,” Yadav said.
