Ex-Yankee says $120 million star is a match for Aaron Judge despite Astros baggage

For many fans of New York Yankeesthey would quickly forgive Alex Bregman.

The former Houston Astros third baseman was the target of their heated comments and taunts due to his involvement in the team’s cheating scandal that rocked baseball.

Inside the clubhouse, there is no doubt that the Astros cheated against them and got away with it. Players, coaches and front office I still have grudges.

So, with the rumors going around that Yankees want to sign BregmanNow a free agent, it’s hard for most of us to imagine what it would be like for him to walk into the Yankees clubhouse for the first time.

But one person thinks there might be chemistry there.

Cameron Maybin played with Bregman for half a season in 2017, helping the Astros beat the Yankees in the American League Championship Series and win a World Series. He also played half a season with the Yankees, including in the postseason when New York lost again to the Astros in the ALCS.

He sees Bregman as a good fit for Yankees captain Aaron Judge, one of the Astros’ outspoken critics.

“I see so much anti Bregman from Yankees fans…well I’ll tell you who would love to play with Alex Bregman, and it’s Aaron Judge!! After playing with both of them, the concentration of ‘Alex, his competitive courage, his ability to post every day, his intensity and his character…. I know he and Aj would vibe so well together. There’s no stat for chemistry, and I! promise that these two will to win would harmonize so well… I know they would love each other! Maybin wrote on his X account.

Bregman certainly fits the Yankees on paper. They need a third baseman and Bregman is solid at the hot corner and has averaged 25 home runs in 154 games with a .260 batting average and .798 OPS over the past three seasons. He has made the playoffs every year of his nine in the major leagues except the first year.

Bregman, 20, is expected to sign a four-year, $119 million dealaccording to Spotrac.
