13 Eastern Massachusetts wrestlers to watch on the mat this season

Vinny DeMaio, Methuen — As a sophomore 157-pound captain, he has finished second at every stage of the 2024 playoffs. Having wrestled varsity since eighth grade, he has 130 wins and could challenge for the school record (212 ).

Nick Desisto, Tewksbury — An all-state and New England finalist as a sophomore at 113 pounds, Desisto posted a mark of 46-5. He is a Division 3 champion, adding a Lowell Holiday title.

Mia Dineen, Hingham – It’s not just that she won a women’s All-State title and placed third in New England at 107 pounds, Dineen finished second at the Division 2 South sectional and sixth at the Marshfield Holiday tournament in the mixed fields as a junior.

Shelby Galex, Northeast — Going into her senior year, the Woburn resident will look to reach that top step in New England, where she absorbed her only loss last year at 145 pounds.

Cole Glynn, Central Catholic — Reaching the century mark in wins as a junior, the 106-pounder bounced back from a Division 1 North section loss in the final seconds of the match to beat the same opponent in the D1 and All-State finals.

Cyrus Jones, Sharon — The junior has been electric, racking up wins early and often in his first two seasons. He finished second at 150 pounds at Division 2 states and all-state last year.

Master Tessa, Watertown — Going unscored in the postseason by all but the New England champion, Master proved she was the best in the state at 152 pounds as a junior and finished third in New England.

Yandel Morales, Andover — Representing Puerto Rico, he finished ninth at Worldsfollowed by an All-State title at 126 pounds and a second-place finish in New England as a sophomore.

Peter Rincan Jr., Billerica — Two years, two states, two state titles for the Bedford, NH resident. Rincan won a New England title as a freshman, then finished third as a sophomore at 120 pounds.

James and Sid Tildsley, Shawsheen — Fresh out of Division 5 football titlethe junior and senior brothers will look to improve on their four collective All-State titles and three New England championships (Sid at 132 and 138 pounds, James at 144).

Brent von Magnus, Bridgewater-Raynham — Best in Division 2 at 132 pounds as a junior, von Magnus led the Trojans to a Southeast Conference title. He placed for the third time at All-States (second) and for the second time at New England (fifth).
