Inspector finds additional violations during follow-up restaurant inspection

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – This week’s restaurant scores are in!

A few weeks ago Pho SaiGon on Highway 2301 from Columbus Airport got a 76 on its health inspection. Required to undergo a follow-up inspection, Pho SaiGon scored 80 in its last follow-up, only 4 points higher than its last score.

According to the Ministry of Health, the inspector noted the following new violations during monitoring:

  • No PIC designated at the start of the inspection (corrected during inspection)
  • Green and yellow sponge stored in the sink for hand washing located in the main kitchen (corrected during inspection)
  • Items in the freezer are not covered to protect them from airborne contamination. (repeat, corrected during inspection)
  • The salt was removed from its original container and placed in a working container that was not labeled with its common name. (corrected during inspection)
  • Single-use items in the scullery stored directly on the floor (corrected during inspection)
  • Towels used to clean up spills, stored on top of food to cover it in accessible coolers. (corrected during inspection)
  • Floors near the cooking station, which had residue and grease buildup and needed cleaning
  • Cardboard boxes used as rugs throughout the main kitchen
  • Hood system with grease and debris buildup in main kitchen

CiCis Pizza, located at 1550 Opelika Road in Auburn, received a score of 85 in its recent health inspection. The inspector found the following violations.

  • Damaged food packaging and old spinach in cold room
  • Dirty vegetable cutter
  • Sink for hand washing without proper hot temperature of at least 100 degrees

A few restaurant chains in the Chattahoochee Valley earned a perfect score of 100 this week.

  • Little Caesars on 8132 Veterans Parkway in Columbus
  • Waffle House on 1738 Opelika Road in Auburn
