Brit-pop band Busted hit a career-defining milestone in Liverpool last year. During a tour and a concert at M&S Bank Arenaa long-awaited feat was finally achieved during a night they will never forget.

Busted frontman Charlie Simpson sat down with the ECHO to discuss his role in the upcoming World War musical. The story tells the heartbreaking tale of a nation panicking after a story of an alien abduction was broadcast to the public who believed every word.

Charlie and the band are no strangers to Liverpool, where they have performed several times during their career. However, last year remains Charlie’s fondest memory as they managed to get a prize after 23 years of preparation.

Charlie told the ECHO: “My favorite memory is when we had a No. 1 album. Busted never had a No. 1 album. We got it the day we played in Liverpool. We We’ve always been chasing it and we came second, so getting it was a huge achievement for all of us.

“We had a big party at the hotel and in the morning the official rankings awarded us the No. 1 gold medal. That evening I walked off stage holding the award as part of the show .

“It’s one of the best crowds we’ve ever had. We love Liverpool and have so many great memories of this place, but this was another level. I’ll never forget it.”

Charlie will return to Liverpool accompanied by his Busted bandmates to face McFly once again on their joint ‘against’ tour. He added: “I’ve been touring for 20 years with Busted and we took McFly on their first tour in 2003. That was when they were just starting out and we weren’t much further along.

“There’s a friendly rivalry between the two of us, which is great. It’s genuine. We have a lot of fun and I love all these guys so much.” You can book your tickets for War of the Worlds here.
