Quarterback who beat Alabama transfers to Auburn

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze bolstered his quarterback spot this week with a player who beat Alabama last season.

Jackson Arnold, former Oklahoma quarterback confirmed on his social networks that he will join the Tigers after two seasons with the Sooners. In his first season as a starter in 2024, Arnold had a largely disappointing campaign with 1,421 passing yards, totaling 444 yards with 15 total touchdowns and three interceptions as Oklahoma finished the year 6- 6.

But Arnold’s fame, which is likely what caught Freeze’s attention, was his instrumental role in the Sooners’ 24-3 loss to Alabama, which ultimately cost him a chance to make the playoffs of college football.

During that game, Arnold passed for a subtle 68 yards on the day, but gashed the Crimson Tide defense on the ground by rushing for 131 of the team’s 260 yards on the day.

Arnold was also one of the top quarterback prospects in the class of 2023, bringing more pedigree to a Tigers room that saw its share of struggles during Freeze’s tenure.
