Maharashtra government and British Council unveil capacity building program for higher education institutions

The Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, in collaboration with the British Council, the UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities, launched the Capacity Building Program for International Officials in under their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

With the support of the Department of Higher and Technical Education, 36 participants from 18 public and private universities in Maharashtra were selected for this workshop, designed to strengthen internationalization initiatives within Indian higher education institutions.

This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of Indian universities to engage in internationalization efforts while showcasing UK expertise in this area. Aligned with the India Goals (NEP) 2020, the program aspires to position India as a global education hub by fostering cross-border collaborations and promoting excellence in higher education.

The program will also offer modules aimed at developing the skills and effectiveness of international managers, promoting the sharing of knowledge and practical results to support the overall internationalization agenda of the participating institutions.

Vikas Chandra Rastogi IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra (Government of Maharashtra) said, “The collaboration between the Government of Maharashtra and the British Council under the Capacity Building Program of international officers marks an important milestone in our journey. towards the transformation of Indian higher education.

“By equipping our universities with the tools and expertise to drive internationalization, this initiative not only aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, but also reinforces Maharashtra’s commitment to becoming a leader in global education. We are confident that this program will enable institutions across the state to forge meaningful international partnerships and improve the quality of higher education.

Rashi Jain, Director, West Indies Division, British Council, said: “The Capacity Building Program for International Managers, launched in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, is a key initiative to strengthen the internationalization efforts of educational institutions superior Indians.

“Through this program, we aim to empower universities to build global partnerships, aligned with India’s National Education Policy 2020 to promote cross-border collaboration. By equipping international leaders with the skills and knowledge to strengthen the international engagement of their institutions, we contribute to India’s ambition to become a global center for education.
