Victoria Bowen sentenced for throwing milkshake

A woman who threw a McDonald’s milkshake at British reform leader Nigel Farage during the general election campaign must pay him compensation and carry out unpaid community work.

Farage had the drink thrown in his face as he left a pub in Clacton-on-Sea on June 4, after he had just launched his candidacy in the Essex constituency.

Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25, of Clacton, admitted assault and causing criminal damage at a previous hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

She was sentenced to 13 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, must pay the MP compensation of £150 and the court ordered she must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Farage was leaving the Moon and Starfish pub on Clacton seafront when he was attacked.

In a statement read to the court, Farage said he felt humiliated by the incident and feared for his safety in public.
