Man shot dead during bar fight, police say | News

A man was shot and killed early Saturday morning during a fight at a bar on Minnie Street, police said.

He was one of three men shot and killed in New Providence over the weekend in separate incidents, one of which occurred during a home invasion.

Regarding Saturday’s homicide, police said two men were involved in an altercation at a bar that then escalated outside. During the fight, one of the men hit the other with an object.

In response, the injured man shot the other man and fled, police reported.

Shortly after the shooting, police arrested a 22-year-old man at the hospital.

The suspect suffered facial injuries, police said.

Another man was shot and killed during one of two home invasions reported by police this weekend.

Police said that around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, three masked men claiming to be immigration officers forced their way into a house on Forbes Street in Nassau Village.

When a 48-year-old resident of the home asked the men for identification, one of the suspects shot him in the upper body, police said.

The victim was transported to hospital where his condition was stable.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Friday, a man was awakened by loud noises and found three armed men inside his home in west New Providence, police said.

The gunmen subdued the man before robbing him of cash, coins and the keys to his silver 2015 Audi Q5, police said.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, a 46-year-old man was shot in the lower body while walking on Quarry Mission Road near Nassau Street, police said, adding that the culprit was on board of a Japanese model car.

The victim was taken to hospital and was in stable condition. The shooter fled, police said.
