He added: “Even after the finale, when he gave us a ten and said something nice, she couldn’t forgive the two eights.”

Ranvir laughed and said, “I love him, that’s the kind of loyalty you expect from your family.”

Chris also opened up about how he still feels very exhausted from the show after it took its toll on him.

The stand-up broke down in tears as he said: “It’s been an emotional Saturday night and I still feel exhausted.

“Three and a half months is relentless. Physically, mentally, it takes its toll. This show wears you out physically and mentally until he pokes you with a stick and you cry in front of people.

Chris then added that his experience strongly affected the way his daughter watched the show, revealing that her worry fueled her own.

“She preyed on my anxiety because I was terrified and I couldn’t really hide it well and she was nervous for me.

“And during the first Cha Cha Cha show, she was so nervous and as soon as we started dancing on the dance floor, she burst into tears, but she got better throughout the show and was able to enjoy.

He said: “I just wanted to get into this and represent people and what I was freaking out about was dancing because I thought it might be disappointing, but I thought I could represent in every other way. ”

“I could be positive and funny and if I could get to the fifth show it would defy expectations – so that’s crazy.”

The star also joked that he didn’t think he would win and as a result only rescheduled his sold-out Yonks tour to January, giving him only a few weeks off.

Chris’ stand-up roadshow will also mean he won’t be able to perform on the Strictly tour. When asked by Ranvir why he didn’t push back the rescheduled dates even further, the star replied: “We had to move the tour to accommodate Strictly and that wasn’t really a consideration at the time.

“I don’t think anyone thought I was going to be good and I didn’t think I would leave Strictly.

“I thought I would leave after two months off!”

Chris ended the interview by telling Ranvir that he hoped his time on the show had changed people’s opinions, explaining: “I hope people realize they need opportunities.

Chris pipped fellow finalists Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill and Sarah Hadland to the post in Saturday’s “best ever” finale, with his cheeky wit and inspiring story helping to save the show after a year of scandals .

The finale, which was the highest-scoring one ever, saw all the couples each perform three dances for the judges before hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced Chris as the winner of the much sought-after Glitterball trophy.

The comic broke down in tears as he was embraced by his fellow celebrities before triumphantly throwing Dianne over his shoulder as the audience went wild.

When asked how Tess and Claudia felt about the moment, Chris replied: “It’s amazing, I don’t know what to say. Honestly, I thought I was going to come out in the first week or two and I know no one came out in the first week, but I still thought I could.

“We just lasted and lasted and (Dianne) got so much out of me and she deserves (the trophy) so much,” as he went on to gush about her “positivity” and “belief.”

Chris earned his first perfect score of 40 points for a waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers, which was his final dance of the series and left the judges and viewers in tears.

His second routine was a mix of dance styles to New Radicals’ You Get What You Give and he recreated his viral “blackout” moment for the first dance.

Chris and Dianne also danced to the tune of their choice – Instant Karma! (We All Shine) by John Lennon.
