Threads Reaches 100 Million Daily Active Users as Meta Capitalizes on Elon Musk’s X Exodus to Alternative Platforms – Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META)

Monday, Meta Platforms, Inc. META CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that Instagram feeds reached the milestone of 100 million daily active users.

What happened: Speaking to Threads, Zuckerberg said that Meta Twitter its rival now has 300 million monthly active users, up from 275 million in November.

This is the first time the company has disclosed its daily active user count.

Meta actively shares statistics and introduces new features to attract more users. This includes custom feeds, starter packs for new users, and options to change default feeds.

Last month, the boss of Instagram Adam Mosseri pointed out that Threads has consistently seen one million registrations per day for three months.

Why it’s important: The increase in Threads’ user base is part of a broader trend of users leaving Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) for alternative platforms.

Rival social media network of X and Threads, Blue sky also benefits from users moving away from X. It now has more 25 million users as of December 10 with popular names like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Marc CubanAnd Marc Hamill ranked among the most popular Bluesky accounts.

This change was particularly pronounced following that of Donald Trump victory, which led to an important increased activity on platforms like Bluesky and Threads. Users have expressed dissatisfaction with the atmosphere on X, prompting them to explore other options.
