But the burly fifth-year player found inspiration last week after his leave from the Ravens. He returned to Baltimore early, and as he practiced Sunday night, the words came to him.

Washington planned to deliver his message to the Ravens defensive line, but when he found out he was the team captain for this week’s game against the New York Giants, he decided to keep it for the entire season. ‘team.

“I’ve been here five years and every year it feels like no team has beaten us. It’s always us beating ourselves,” Washington said of his message.

“My message was: let’s make sure we master all the little things so we don’t beat ourselves. I think everyone did a good job and the result was what it was.”
