Man, 22, injured in ‘alkaline attack’ in Winter Wonderland: Two men and 16-year-old boy arrested after corrosive liquid thrown at victim during fight

A 22-year-old man was injured after a bottle containing an alkaline corrosive liquid was allegedly thrown at him during a fight at Winter Wonderland.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment following an “altercation involving two groups” on Sunday evening at the Christmas attraction in London’s Hyde Park.

Scotland Yard launched an investigation and arrested two men aged 21 and 18 and a 16-year-old boy, all on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The man’s injuries were considered not life-changing, while both men remain in custody and the boy was released on bail to return to a police station in February.

Bosses at Winter Wonderland described the attack as an “isolated incident involving a corrosive substance during an altercation between a small group”.

Event medical and security staff attended the scene after the incident at 8pm and assisted the Metropolitan Police in arresting the three people.

Park bosses said they had “bag searches, CCTV, on-site security, specially trained staff who report suspicious activity and extensive perimeter protection”.
