Troy’s Tori Hester earns All-American honors

Troy Trojan Tori Hester was named a Division I honorable mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Wednesday.

Hester received numerous postseason accolades following an outstanding senior campaign that saw her earn both Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honors, as well as as All-Sun Belt and All-South Region honors.

Hester not only became the first Trojan to earn All-South Region honors, but she is also the first Trojan player in school history to earn AVCA All-America honors.

“First of all, I’m so proud of Tori,” Troy coach Josh Lauer said. “For her to be honored in this way, it’s just a true testament to what can happen to players who choose to be team first, to make so many sacrifices, to stay in one place and to give it their whole heart.

“She deserves all of this, and I’m so grateful that her fifth year was able to be this way.” All the coaches who recognized his talent was worth celebrating, I really appreciate that. I am so happy and proud of her.

She led the Sun Belt with 536 kills, 5.10 kills per set, 607.5 total points and 5.79 points per set. She finished her career at Troy as the school’s all-time leader in wins, wins per set and total points. Hester finished his Troy career on a 48-game double-digit game streak, which led all active Division I athletes. Hester was also solid on defense for Troy, earning 45 blocks and 269 digs this season. Hester finished his Troy career with 1,767 kills, 71 assists, 155 aces, 1,127 digs and 164 blocks.
