‘I didn’t expect so many negative reviews for Indian 2’: Director Shankar opens up on Kamal Haasan’s film and Ram Charan’s Game Changer

Director Shankar is gearing up for the release of Game Changer starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in lead roles. Ahead of the film’s release on January 10, 2025, the director spoke about the negative impact faced by Indian 2 and his confidence in his upcoming films.

In his interview with Vikatan, Shankar addressed the negative impact they faced after the release of his latest film Indian 2. The director confessed, “I didn’t expect so many negative reviews for Indian 2, but that’s okay, I’m now trying to do a better job with Game Changer and Indian 3.”

The director is confident he will do good with Game Changer and the sequel Indian 2 titled Indian 3. Moreover, the director also confirmed that the third sequel of the film will only be released in theaters first. This comes at a time when there has been a buzz around the Kamal Haasan starrer likely to release directly on OTT.

For those who don’t know, Indian 2 was the sequel to Shankar and Haasan’s 1996 cult classic film, Indian. The story focuses on the return of the former freedom fighter and old vigilante who seeks to rid India of its corruption, thereby improving the lives of the public.

Speaking about his cinematic adventure with Ram CharanShankar said, “I am completely satisfied with the way Game Changer has turned out. This is a lifelong character for Charan. It will be a racy film filled with a brilliant storyline.

The director also explained that the film will be a fully commercial venture whose basic plot will follow the rivalry between an IAS officer played by Charan and a politician played by SJ Suryah.

The movie Game changerstarring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, is based on a story narrated by Karthik Subbaraj. The political action drama focuses on a righteous IAS officer who sets out to take on the corrupt political system.

Apart from the lead actors, the film also has SJ Suryah, Srikanth, Anjali, Samuthirakani, Jayaram and many others in key roles. As the film will release on Sankranti next year, the makers are expected to unveil the 4th single from the film titled Dhop on December 22, 2024 at 8 am in India.
