In 2024, how can you differentiate your phone from the many others on the market? For most smartphone manufacturers, it’s all about the camera. We’ve seen some pretty incredible cameras released by Chinese smartphone makers, like OPPO and Vivo in recent times. But real me went in a different direction with the 14 Pro series.

The Realme 14 Pro series features the world’s first cold-sensitive color-changing back. This phone was co-designed by realme and Valeur Designers, a renowned Nordic industrial design studio. And that explains why realme decided to announce the realme 14 Pro series here in Copenhagen.

realme has partnered with Value Designers Workshop for the 14 Pro series with the aim of redefining premium and trendy designs for smartphones. This studio is led by designer Torsten Valeur, who already has a 29-year partnership with the iconic brand Bang & Olufsen.

This phone sports a distinctive pearl texture, which is an innovative temperature-sensitive color changing technique, along with a curved quad display and the industry’s first triple flash camera system. This quad-curvature display is nearly bezel-less, achieving an incredible 93.8% screen-to-body ratio. This makes it the most transparent display on a Realme device to date.

How does this new technology work?

Now the big question is how does this new technology work? Well, according to Realme, it employs thermochromic pigments which react to changes in temperature. So when the temperature drops below 16°C (or 60°F), the back cover of the phone then changes from pearly white to bright blue, and reverses as soon as the temperature rises. This means that in winter, or even fall, you might have a white phone inside and a blue phone outside.

This transformation mimics color-changing deep-sea creatures like jellyfish and molluscs. It captures the deep and enigmatic essence of the oceans. The color-changing back panel provides users with unexpected fun, every day.

However, that’s not all that makes the Realme 14 Pro series unique. There will be no two realme 14 Pro Series devices with the same model. Just like no two shells have the same pattern. This means that everyone will have a unique looking realme 14 Pro Series smartphone. This effect is achieved through a special fusion fiber involving over 30 steps of craftsmanship, which ensures that each back cover has its own exclusive pattern. Additionally, this fusion fiber is made from 95% eco-friendly bio-based materials, making it biodegradable, renewable and energy efficient.

realme also adds IP66, IP68 and IP69 odds to the 14 Pro series, which is a popular trend until 2025. With the addition of IP69, you can use warmer water and water jets, which basically means you can put your phone in a dishwasher or washing machine.

Finally, the realme 14 Pro+ features its first “Ocean Oculus” triple camera and triple flash system, with refined decoration. It also introduces the industry’s first “MagicGlow” triple flash for nighttime portraits, which will help restore skin tones in complex lighting conditions.
