President Erdoğan, Sissi discuss Turkey-Egypt relations in Cairo

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi discussed bilateral relations and regional and global developments during their meeting on the sidelines of the D-8 summit in Cairo on Thursday, the Presidential Directorate of Communications said.

During their meeting, Erdoğan stressed the importance of a permanent and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and that solidarity between Turkey and Egypt would contribute to the uninterrupted delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid. Palestinian enclave under blockade.

“Erdoğan said during the meeting that Turkey will continue to develop cooperation with Egypt, which has historical and cultural ties, in many areas, including the defense industry, energy, transportation and development, and will strive to achieve the mutual trade volume target of $15 billion,” the management said.

Erdoğan also said that the Syrian people have paid a heavy price for 13 years and that they will decide their future. He noted that Turkey would continue to support the reconstruction of Syria and the establishment of internal reconciliation.
