Barrie & District Christmas Cheer in need of $128,000 as campaign draws to a close

The clock is ticking for Barrie & District Christmas Cheer as the organization begins its final day of fundraising to reach its $450,000 goal.

With $321,146 raised so far, there is still more than $128,000 needed to ensure every family in need receives the holiday support they deserve.

The distribution of Christmas hampers has already begun and will continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 19 and 20, but with time running out, the organization is making an urgent appeal for help from the community.

“This is our most critical time,” said Sandra Yaquo, president of Barrie & District Christmas Cheer. “We are working to close the gap and we need the generosity of the community more than ever to be able to provide for the 1,950 families who are counting on us this year.

Funds raised will be used to provide baskets full of essential groceries and gifts to families in Barrie, Innisfil, Oro-Medonte, Springwater and Essa, many of whom are struggling with rising costs and financial difficulties.
