New York City private gym’s surprising dress code requires members to follow to promote ‘inclusivity’

An influencer has lifted the lid on the surprising dress code her ultra-exclusive gym requires its members to follow.

Caitlin Emiko is an Australian who moved to New York and has been documenting her time in the Big Apple on her TikTok account ever since.

Most recently, the 25-year-old content creator took to the video-sharing platform to share the shocking guidelines she has to follow at her intense gym.

Caitlin sweats it out in New York’s Greenwich Village, which charges $218 a month for her Squad membership.

And while the workout center is sure to have you rocking abs in no time, it requires you to don black gym clothes while perfecting your fitness routine.

In a viral video, which has so far garnered over 58,000 views, Caitlin lifted the lid on the dress code.

She showed off her strong physique while flaunting her new black sportswear.

The 25-year-old explained the dress code was in place to “avoid comparison” revealing that when it’s your birthday you can wear a colorful workout ensemble.

She captioned the clip: “My only motivation to go to the gym.”

“You’re only allowed to wear black activewear in my gym, let me explain why while I show you my favorite pieces,” the brunette beauty said at the start of the video.

She added: “There are several reasons why they do this, but the first is to avoid comparison.”

The influencer, who has over 95,000 followers, noted that it stops you from thinking that you don’t look “as cool” as someone else.

“Because everyone looks the same, you just wear a uniform that you wear to the gym and you don’t have to worry about what you wear,” she explained.

Caitlin added that when it’s your birthday, you can wear a colorful workout ensemble in the private gym.

The company’s marketing manager also previously confirmed that the reasoning behind the dress code was to eliminate comparison.

In a TikTok video, she added: “When we run, it’s easier to stay together. It also looks really cool. This makes my life easier because all the photos are aesthetically pleasing.
