Tyson Fury did everything in his power to put himself in position to avenge his split decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk in May.

One important call appears to involve his father John Fury.

There was criticism of the chaotic nature of Fury’s corner in his first meeting against Usyk, with his father John and both coaches SugarHill Steward and Andy Lee instructing him at the same time.

Speaking at open training sessions on Wednesday, Steward appeared to confirm that John would not return to the corner.

“Just myself (will be around), Andy Lee and the cutman,” Steward said. “That’s about it.”

Fury’s assistant coach Lee said he was unsure whether John would be involved while, earlier this month, promoter Frank Warren told BBC Sport. he expected Fury Sr to be around again.

And it seems that the former champion himself isn’t even sure about the situation.

“I don’t know,” Tyson replied when asked about his father’s involvement. “I don’t get involved in all that.”
